If you’ve been trotting up and down Buchanan Street over the last few months, you’ll have noticed the massive overhaul that’s been underway over at House of Fraser. Specifically, their iconic beauty department. There’s been a lot of moving and shaking to make way for bigger counters, more services and some shiny new arrivals.
One of the most exciting additions to the store is Charlotte Tilbury, who have revealed their decadent new concession over the last couple of weeks. An explosion of rose gold hardware, plush vampy velvet and, of course, more red carpet-inspired glamour than you can shake a mascara wand at!
I couldn’t wait to pay them a visit so, on their opening week, I arranged an appointment for a ‘Tilbury Transformation’ and a look around their swish new location.
It’s impossible NOT to notice Charlotte Tilbury’s counter, whether you’re walking past House of Fraser or wandering around their ground floor. Their eye-catching window display and stylish interior is the stuff beauty junkie dreams.
I felt like I was being invited into Dita Von Teese’s boudoir as I took a seat on their velvet sofa under the ostrich feathers and gold palm leaf light fittings. Ooh, la la!
Before I sat down with MUA Steph, I had to choose the look I wanted from a menu of ten different makeup styles. Every alter ego from The Rock Chick to The Bombshell is covered but it was the sultry Dolce Vita look that caught my eye.
The Tilbury Transformation appointment includes a full makeup application as well as an explanation of the expert techniques along the way.
As a pale-skinned gal (Casper the ghost has nothing on me…), finding a matching foundation colour is always top of my list when I’m trying out a new look. Luckily, Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Foundation comes in 15 shades (and 4 of them are ‘fair’) so, after Steph tried a couple, we quickly found my perfect shade (it’s 1 in case you’re wondering!).
Warm, metallic and slightly smokey eyes were created using a Luxury Eyeshadow Palette in (you guessed it!) The Dolce Vita, Full Fat Lashes mascara and a slick of the Feline Flick, Quick Fine Line Shodo Pen.
While we chatted about pets, movies and our favourite bands, Steph worked on giving me killer cheekbones using the Cheek to Chic compact in Ecstasy and lined my lips. The finishing touch was a bold pout using Matte Revolution lipstick in Bond Girl. Just call me Miss Moneypenny!
I was over the moon with the end result and loved the old-school Hollywood-inspired look of the Dolce Vita. You can find all ten looks, plus Charlotte Tilbury’s full range of products, here or pop into House of Fraser to check it out for yourself.
