While we were in Florida, we couldn’t resist booking a stay at Cabana Bay Beach Resort over at Universal Studios. The mid-century themed hotel with its bright bursts of colour and 1950s rock n’ roll soundtrack was at the top of our list, and we couldn’t wait to check in! I’ll be posting a separate review of our stay soon, but I wanted to share some snaps of this cute-as-a-button frock that I wore while spending our first afternoon at the resort…
This Pink Candy Collar dress from Love Ur Look London reminds me of something you might find in a American diner – the black collar detailing is very ‘retro waitress’, dontcha think? Can I take your order, honey?
I love the flattering cut of the dress, and it felt really comfortable to wear as we explored the outdoor areas (those vintage cars though!) and the hotel’s Bayliner Diner.
The fabric also happens to be patterned with kitsch diner-themed motifs, like milkshakes and ice cream with extra scoops (is there any other kind of ice cream?)!
When you’re hanging out in the Florida heat, keeping cool is a top priority! I wore my dress with simple sandals and my trusty Muir sunglasses from Iolla – the cat-eye shape made them the perfect accessory for this vintage-inspired look.
My little pink flamingo necklace came from the latest Tatty Devine Lucky Dip launch, and I don’t think there was a better outfit that I could have worn to show him off!
This was the first time I’d tried out a design from Love Ur Look London, and after hearing about their ethical approach to fashion production, I was looking forward to styling it. The dress has also been created from upcycled fabrics, but you would never be able to tell when you slip into it – it’s very well-made and the cotton feels super soft.
If you live around London, Love Ur Look are also taking part in the Pin Up Pop Up Shop – a showcase of 1950s awesomeness featuring everything from clothing and accessories to makeovers and homeware. Sound good? Skip on over to Truman Brewery in East London from 10th to 14th June in your finest circle skirt and get involved!
I adored wearing this dress while wandering around our retro resort – and even went bowling in it later that evening! It was just made for stepping back in time and bringing a touch of bygone glamour to our trip.
Have you checked out the designs from Love Ur Look London? What is your favourite vintage fashion era?
