Celebrating Bosley’s First Year!

Bosley's First Year

This weekend is a special one because it marks Bosley’s first year of living with us (AKA his ‘gotcha day’)! It’s hard for me to believe that this time last year we were bringing him home because it kind of feels like he’s always been here.

I was looking through pictures of Bosley earlier and can’t believe how tiny he used to be! I used to be able to scoop him up in one hand and he was able to climb inside my handbags and hide. These days, it’s quite a different story. But he is still as curious as ever and he still tries to climb inside things, even if his big butt hangs out the back! Bosley also has an incredible RKF (resting kit face!) as, despite his grumpy expression, he is very affectionate and friendly. We even joke that he is part dog!

Bosley's First Year

A little while back, I wrote about how having a kitten has been a big learning curve in our house, and I’m still learning new things about Bosley as he gets bigger. Like how much he loves our daily routines (no matter how small they might be!) and how intuitive he is. Also, he makes us laugh constantly – the other day he reacted to a particularly dramatic part of a corny film and it (further) convinced me that he understands English purrfectly…

Earlier this week was International Cat Day which meant that, as well as my feed being filled with even more cute felines than usual, I had yet another excuse to post a picture and celebrate Bosley’s first year on Twitter and Instagram! The gang at RSPCA have even included him in their #MoreThanCat online gallery of kitties – you can check it out here.

Bosley's First Year

It’s amazing how quickly a little animal can become such a big part of your life and, in a short year, Bosley has become a major part of ours. I can’t wait to see what the next twelve months (and all the months and years after that!) bring.

Tell me all about your furry friends! Do you celebrate any pet birthdays/ anniversaries too?

Friday Hi-Fives: Zoo Nights and Dino Days

Hello, kitten! And a very happy Fri-yay to you! How has your week been?

This time last week, I was through in Edinbugh having a roarsome time at the Zoo Nights event. As well as visiting the animals after-hours, we shimmied in a silent disco, ate at a pop-up mac n’ cheese bar (yes, really!), wore silly masks, and – oh yeah – walked amongst some life-sized animatronic dinosaurs! I’m standing next to the little ones in this photo (aww), but the bigger ones were pretty awesome.

All that prehysteria (see what I did there?) got us in the mood to plan a fun dino-themed day out to see Jurassic World in a couple of weeks – in 3D of course!

Last weekend I also visited the Beatroot and Lace Bazaar in the city centre, and had an ace day checking out some local independent talent – I particularly loved chatting with local designers Claire Barclay and Danielle Cassells, and browsing the quirky, upcycled lighting pieces at The Owl and the Pussycat’s stall. Did you make it to the bazaar?

The week has been a busy one – in the best possible way! I went along to the beautiful Theatre Royal on Monday for a special sneaky-peek showcase, and enjoyed a lovely dinner date at Millennium hotel on George Square later in the week. Throw in a couple of coffee dates with some of my favourite ladies and suddenly it’s Friday again, phew!

I’m getting ready for a trip to London this weekend, but before I run off to pack a bag, here are my weekly picks for your browsing pleasure…

Cows and Cherry Blossoms at Pollok Park

Boohoo 3

When visiting friends tell me about their perception of Glasgow, it’s normally that they see it as a very urban and industrial place. They aren’t wrong about that – in the busy city centre, we are surrounded by an eclectic (and beautiful!) mix of buildings and a whole LOT of people. But like all good characters, Glasgow has another side. A softer, laid-back one in the shape of its green spaces and parks.

To me, this side of Glasgow is just as special. Is there anything more relaxing than spending a day at the park? I’ve found myself lazing in Kelvingrove park in the summer, hiking up the hills of Queens Park in the frost (just to get to THAT view at the top!) and wandering through Glasgow Green with my beau chattering like a pair of monkeys.

Recently, I decided to go to Pollok Park for a walk under the cherry blossoms… and to visit the cows!

Pollok Park, for you out-of-towners, is located in the South West of Glasgow. It’s a massive country park with woodlands and gardens to explore, as well as wildlife, walking and cycling trails, and a rich history to boot (it’s been the home of 3 castles in its lifetime!). You’ll also find Pollock House and the Burrell Collection still on its grounds.

A visit to the park makes for an awesome day out, just bring a picnic and you’re good to go! You can’t go wrong with a cute outfit either, if – like me – you’re forever taking snaps while out on your adventures…

Boohoo 5

To stroll around the woodland paths, flat boots were a must – I’m wearing a pair of Darcie ankle boots by Boohoo which are super comfortable and didn’t require any nasty breaking in! The boot gods were smiling on me for sure!

I love the look of a biker jacket with a floaty dress, and especially adore the combination of black with the vivid blue of this chiffon wrap dress.

It just wouldn’t be a visit to Pollok Park without seeing the Highland cows that live there. This one almost got close enough for a selfie! Aww!

With the sun peeping out from the clouds, I couldn’t wait to wear these blue and gold sunglasses. They are a little more ‘Vegas, baby!’ than country park, but I’ve never been one for sensible accessories.

What I Wore:

Dress, boots, tights and sunglasses: C/O Boohoo

Jacket: Topshop

Peony hair clip: Crown and Glory

Necklace: Bonnie Bling

I didn’t make it round the whole park that day, but you can bet I’ll be back again over the summer. It makes my heart happy to know that we have these quiet leafy pockets within our reach in Glasgow – perfect for days when the hustle and bustle gets too much.

Tell me about somewhere special to you!

Here’s to park life,
