Take One Princess Skirt: Night

Recently, the team at St Enoch challenged me to show you guys how I take my seasonal style from daytime to dancing time, and it gave me the perfect opportunity to finally up my game and think about how to do this realistically. After browsing the range of stores and thinking about how to put the into practice, I realised that it’s all about having one versatile piece! Something you can comfortably wear during the day and then dress up after dark (ooh, la la!).

I found my perfect day-to-night piece in the shape of a super floaty Princess skirt from Only at Debenhams that even Snow White herself would be proud of! In part one, I was showing off how I would wear this during the day, dressed down with sneakers and bright accessories.

Today, I’m giving this multi-tasking skirt the full razzle-dazzle treatment with a fun evening ensemble…

Look 2: Night

I don’t know about you, but when it comes to nights out (and ESPECIALLY Christmas nights out!), I can’t pile on enough sparkle. I don’t need to look at the label on this cropped jumper from H&M at St Enoch to know it’s at least 50% tinsel, and that’s why I knew I needed it in my life.

Debut at Debenhams can always be relied upon for special occasion shoes, and these gold glitter ones were practically made for shimmying to Slade at my next festive fiesta! I recently had my nails Swooned in lashings of sparkle to match, dontcha just love it when a plan comes together?

I was super excited to get my hair cut just in time for Christmas at #BLOW Finneston recently, and as always I’m thrilled with the result. There’s nothing like fresh nails and a brand new haircut to get you in the mood for party season.

If there’s a time of year to really go to town with kitsch accessories, I think Christmas might just be the one. I picked up a pair of oversized neon pink reindeer earrings from Claire’s and still had change from a fiver (I’ve nicknamed them Prancer and Dancer, because they are so huge that I think they deserved their own names!).

This pastel faux fur bag from Topshop at St Enoch is big enough to hold all my party time essentials and adds the perfect pop of colour. It’s so soft and fluffy that I kind of have to resist stroking it like a creepy bond villain…

Finally, I’m wearing a hair accessory from this month’s Crown and Glory Glitterati subscription box and my little parakeet from my visit to the Tatty Devine necklace making workshop earlier this year. Both are bright and shiny enough to pass for festive accessories (though I will be wearing them all year round, of course!).

I had a funny feeling that this skirt would be perfect for Christmas parties – and I’ll be putting it to the test a lot this season! After all, what kind of princess doesn’t like to twirl?

Have you found the perfect day-to-night piece this year? Do you ever name your jewellery too?

With twirls and tinsel,

A Holly Jolly Christmas Jumper

Love ’em or loathe ’em, it’s officially time for Yuletide-themed clothes and accessories to see the light of day again and I for one couldn’t be more pleased. Falling firmly into the ‘love ’em’ camp, it’s the time of year that I can take my love of kitsch up another notch.

Acting as my festive accomplice / enabler, the lovely team of elves at George invited me to indulge in my love of corny Christmas ensembles by styling up one of their Christmas jumpers from this year’s collection. Snowflakes, penguins and reindeer, oh my! With nearly forty festive choices to pick from, I felt like a kid in a candy (cane) store…

Opting for fine knit over fluffy, and a pattern instead of one main design, this cute little holly number called out to me!

I love the bold contrast of the pattern against the plain black of the sweater, and being black, it’ll be great for mixing and matching over the coming weeks.

Combining textures is one of my favourite parts of winter, and I decided to style the jumper with a soft pleather A-line midi skirt. As well as feeling great on (and I can confirm that it passes the twirl test!), the skirt has two front pockets – and we all know how I feel about a skirt with pockets, right? Score!

Fearing that I was wearing too much black (the horror!) I knew some sparkle was in order, and this embellished collar was the perfect way to jazz things up without piling on loads of layers. I wore it with my gold Bonnie Bling snowflake necklace, because you can never have too many metallics at Christmas time.

This month’s Crown and Glory Glitterati subscription box was party-themed and one of my favourite pieces from it is this glittery name headband. Each subscriber was sent a surprise reindeer name in their parcel, and I was so pleased to get Vixen in mine!

Can we just take a moment to appreciate these super shiny golden brogues? If these aren’t made for dancing I don’t know what is!

My Holly Jolly Christmas Outfit includes:

Jumper, skirt, collar & shoes: George
Snowflake necklace: Bonnie Bling
VIXEN Reindeer headband: Crown and Glory

I finished my look with a slick of red lipstick – it IS mistletoe season, after all!

Will you be wearing a Christmas jumper this year? What’s your favourite reindeer name?

A Tropical Girl Gang Adventure!

GirlGang (82)

GirlGang (93)

Recently, I spent an awesome weekend in Edinburgh and hung out at Vicky’s cute new pad with my girls. With treats, blankets and the most questionable movie double bill known to man (The Little Mermaid followed by The Shining FYI…) it was great to catch up and break in Vicky’s new home.

GirlGang (52)

Some of you might remember that when I spent a weekend with Vicky, Kim and Helen this time last year in Arbroath, we got up to some very spooky antics indeed! Our girl gang fashion project last year was too much fun not to revisit, so we decided to organise another styled photo shoot for our latest get-together. Seeing as we are all huge fans of kitsch prints, fruity motifs and bright colours, we knew that a tropical girl gang adventure was the perfect way to say goodbye to the summer in style!

With so many pretty spots in Edinburgh, we were a little spoiled for choice! We finally settled on the Royal Botanic Gardens, a beautiful space which seemed to glow in the Sunday morning sun. Teaming up with the very kind and friendly Mint And Chillies Photography, we had a lot of fun shooting these snaps in amongst the lush florals of the gardens.

GirlGang (95)

To me, it doesn’t get much more tropical than a fresh fruity design! I’d had my eye on this watermelon dress by Sugarhill Boutique for what felt like forever, and I finally picked it up last month. I love the bright colours and I’m a sucker for a fit-and-flare cut!

GirlGang (54)

Know what goes REALLY well with watermelons? More watermelons! This oversized watermelon necklace from Hannah Zakari (a birthday gift from Vicky!) is probably one of my most-worn pieces of jewellery right now and I couldn’t let another opportunity to wear it pass me by…

I’ve been subscribing to Crown and Glory’s Glitterati boxes for a few months now, and one of my favourite items so far is this fascinator – made from tiny colourful cocktail umbrellas! I’ve found that it’s a real conversation-starter, and I like how well it fit in with our (Club) Tropicana fashion parade.

GirlGang (57)

If you read last week’s posts (or have been following me along on Twitter!), you might remember that I recently spent some time with the team at IOLLA getting to know their new showroom. The sunglasses in this shoot are my Muir frames from IOLLA – I’m in love with their classic tortoiseshell hue and cat-eye shape. To be honest it wasn’t my plan to wear them in our photos (especially since I’d spent so much time on my eye make up that morning!), but when it feels right, it feels right!

GirlGang (83)

I love photos of the 4 of us together like this. If only we could sing, I reckon we’d make a great pop band – what do you think?

GirlGang (51)

Our totally tropical adventure was the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning, and even though summer might be over, I think I’ll still be wearing watermelons to cheer me up on a grey day! Don’t forget to keep your eyes on Vicky, Kim & Helen’s blogs to see more snaps from our shoot.

All that’s missing is the sea…
