Getting Road Trip Ready: Bikinis with Boohoo

boohoo

This year, I’m going on my biggest adventure yet – a road trip across America with Gary and our two best friends – and I just can’t WAIT! It’s only two months before we set off (*squeals*) and it’s definitely about time I started preparing for this heck of a holiday.

First things first! Between beaches, hotel pools and um, a hot tub in the mountains (yeah, really!), one thing is certain: I’m going to need a swimsuit! I’d just started browsing some new season swimwear when, with impeccable timing, the team at Boohoo got in touch asking me to take a look at their latest drop of bikinis and suits for an evening of spa treats with them. Who could say no to that?

Picking out a bikini from Boohoo was easier said than done! With a ton of bright colours and playful patterns to choose from, there’s really something to suit everyone in the new collection and I was spoilt for choice. I am a huge fan of retro high-waisted bottoms, so my first choice was this adorable Ava watermelon print bikini. As much as I loved it the fun pattern (dressing like a bowl of fruit is a recurring theme in my summer wardrobe…) , the fit wasn’t quite right so I swapped it out for another high-waisted option.

As well as having ready-to-go sets, Boohoo also have a selection of mix and match swimwear – perfect if you fancy coming up with your own combinations to suit your style. I picked out their Corfu moulded triangle bikini top and the matching high-waisted briefs and got ready for a night at Village Hotel Club Glasgow with some other blogging babes!

I’d never actually visited a Village Hotel before, so the hotel geek in me was really looking forward to it! I loved the cool, contemporary decor at reception, and the spa area was very relaxing. As well as enjoying a dip in the (heated!) indoor pool, and a blether in the jacuzzi, we also spent some time in the spa lounge.

After being treated so some tasty nibbles and drinks, the beauty therapists from the Village Spa led us through an interactive skincare workshop. After scrubbing and rubbing my face with gorgeous-smelling ESPA products, my skin was glowing and felt super hydrated. DIY facials might just become a regular thing for this gal – watch this space…

Escaping to this girly get-together for a few hours was the perfect cure for the cold weather blues! This event was part of the Boohoo ‘Treat Yourself’ Spa Tour and, if you fancy treating yourself too, here are some handy discount codes: for an exclusive 10% discount off treatments or food and drink at Village Hotels, use voucher BOOHOO10 – and for 20% off everything at Boohoo use voucher BOOHOOXVILLAGESPA20 – hooray!

With a cute and very colourful bikini to start off my suitcase, I’m starting to feel the holiday excitement! Have you started looking at any swimsuits this year? If you could dress like a piece of fruit, which would you choose?

Here’s to poolside posing and hot tub gossip sessions…

5 Reasons to Fall in Love with The Cambridge Satchel Company’s Spring Collection

Cambridge Satchel

Bonjour! Last week I was transported to the glamorous bygone days of the French Riviera… and I didn’t even need my passport (or a time machine!). Instead, I headed through to Edinburgh for a very special visit to The Cambridge Satchel Company’s store at Grassmarket to get to know their new Spring line a little better.

Inspired by vintage travel postcards, pastel-hued French sunsets, and the need to carry all of your precious essentials around in style, The Cambridge Satchel Company’s dreamy new collection left me completely smitten and with major wanderlust! Ooh la la!

Cambridge Satchel

I couldn’t help but snap some photos while I was visiting and chatting all things bag-shaped with the lovely team at the store – so I thought I would share a few of them today, along with some details on what you can expect from the new range.

Here are 5 very good reasons to fall in love with The Cambridge Satchel Company’s Spring Collection…

Cambridge Satchel

New colours: taking their cue from traditional villas, the sea and chic vintage French fashion, the colour palette for Spring includes brand new hues in Terracotta (my favourite from the collection, almost verging on peach and gorgeously girly), French grey (a soft, blue-grey that will go with EVERYTHING!), Clay (an off-white that has the power to smarten up even the most distressed denim) and Amber (warm, rich and will only look cooler as it gets worn).

Floating along on clouds: ahh, the cloud bags! My absolute favourites from the collection (and pretty much my favourite design that The Cambridge Satchel Company have ever released). These adorable, scalloped-edged satchels are included in the new colours and are the perfect size for a day of sightseeing.

New textures: as well as four new shades, the Spring bags also come in some brand new materials. From soft grain to luxurious Saffiano leather, the structured design that the brand is known for is given some extra je nais se quoi thanks to these additional touches of texture.

Poppy’s back… and she’s had a makeover: The Cambridge Satchel Company’s Poppy bags are a design loved by many (Lady Gaga often rocks the dusky rose colourway!) thanks to striking the perfect balance between pretty and practical. The retro push-lock closure and doctor’s bag style make this bag seem as though it’s leapt from an episode of Mad Men. So, Poppy is back for Spring because she really didn’t want to miss out on a trip to the Riviera; in new colours and Saffiano leather options.

This time it’s personal: actually, that’s not strictly true – personalisation at The Cambridge Satchel Company is not a new concept as the brand have been offering this service for a long time. However, there are some new monogram colours and symbols to choose from to help make your new season bag your very own! I love watching the process and I decided to adorn my terracotta backpack with silver initials (mine, of course!) to match the hardware. I just can’t wait to take it on my next adventure…

Scottish Scarf Designers to Fall In Love With

Scottish Scarf Designers

When it comes to accessories, I’m a scarf girl through and through – I’m not talking about the chunky, knitted kind (though at this time of year, I like to keep them pretty close to hand too!), but the endless, dreamy style options that only a printed silk scarf can give.

Whether looped around my neck, jazzing up a bag or (my favourite!) tied in a big ol’ bow in my hair, there’s nothing quite like a beautifully designed scarf to add a punch of colour and let my imagination run wild. When I started putting a shortlist of my favourite brands and new discoveries to tell you guys about, something occurred to me: they were all based in Scotland!

So today, I’d love to share some of the amazing Scottish scarf designers that make accessorising extra fun, with the hope that you might love them as much as I do…

Scottish Scarf Designers

Heather Margaret Grace

From queen bees to delicate flowers and even tarantulas, Heather Margaret Grace’s designs have more than a hint of the botanical about them. Created by a dynamic sister duo and inspired by the strong women in their family, this brand have a small, intricately-designed collection that combine sketch-like images with vintage-inspired prints and colours.

Heather Margaret Grace’s ability to make even insects and arachnids appear stylish remind me to always look at things a little bit differently! You can find out more about the brand here.

Scottish Scarf Designers

Karen Mabon

My love for Karen Mabon’s bold, whimsical designs is utterly endless – but really, can you blame me? I remember falling head over heels with the very first design I laid eyes on – the Taco Nights scarf – and I HAD to have it. Nearly three years later and I’m still hooked.

Watching this lady light up the fashion world with fried eggs, kittens dressed as astronauts and vintage funfair rides just makes my heart sing – it’s the way life should be. A scarf by Karen Mabon will always make you smile. Fact!

Scottish Scarf Designers

Urban Reivers

I became aware of Urban Reivers over the summer, when I noticed their pop-up during the Edinburgh Fringe and sniffed their Reek artisan perfume. What’s really unique about Urban Reivers is that they put their passion for Scotland’s history at the heart of all of their projects, and their scarves are no exception!

Part of their BIDE collection, their scarves bring Scottish landscapes to life, using original vintage maps as a basis for their vibrant pieces. Bringing the old and the new together with a seriously wearable result is what makes this brand stand out.

Special mention: I’m currently loving the bright and beautiful printed scarves by surface pattern designer Mimi Hammill, who I discovered on Instagram earlier this year. Mimi’s scarves are all designed, printed and finished in Scotland and you can see her collection here!

Scottish Scarf Designers

These are just a few awesome Scottish Scarf Designers that I couldn’t resist sharing, but I want to know who YOUR favourites are! And how do you like to wear a silk scarf?

Love and enormous bows,
