Beauty Hit List: April & May 2017

April and May have gone by in a flash and suddenly it’s time for another Beauty Hit List! These are the latest products that I’ve been reaching for and, as always, some are new releases while the others are simply new to me!

Let’s dive in and take a look…

Marula Oil range by Paul Mitchell

One of the reasons why I don’t tend to grow my hair out much is because I have really, REALLY thick hair. And, no matter what length it is, it can get a bit difficult to manage if I don’t look after it! I love discovering new ways to treat my locks and keep them feeling soft and the Marula Oil styling products have the moisture boost of a hair mask built into their sprays and creams. The Rare Oil Style Extending Primer is my favourite from the collection – it’s been ideal for quenching my hair during the hot weather lately.

Solait SPF 50 Moisturising Sun Lotion by Superdrug

I’m a bit of a broken record when it comes to wearing sunscreen I will admit but, at this time of year, it’s more important than ever to have a tube of SPF 50 in your handbag. One of the best things about summer is how spontaneous you can be, right? An afternoon in the park can suddenly turn into dinner al fresco (and beyond), so I’m keeping this Superdrug Solait sunscreen handy for wherever the day takes me. Feel the burn? Not on my watch!

Unicorn Snot glitter hair and body gel

Had to. I was in a drugstore in Aspen earlier this month when a basket of sparkles caught my eye and, when I investigated further, I found jars of Unicorn Snot! Not only did I give in to the name but the sparkly gel also made me feel very nostalgic! I figured it would come in handy for glitter roots, smearing on my cheekbones and much more. Plus, it’s a jar of pink glitter, guys – I don’t need any other reasons. Ten bucks well spent!  #sorrynotsorry

Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Let’s Go Crazy by NARS

Oh, friends – if there was ever a clever ploy to entice me to buy a beauty product, naming the colours after Prince songs is a surefire way to win me over! Dig if you will, the picture: I was cruising the aisles in Sephora and checking out the NARS counter when, all of a sudden, the names of the shades started to feel oh-so-familiar. Dirty Mind. Do Me, Baby. Get Off. Pop Life. It was the dream we all dream of (or at least, the dream I dream of!). So I limited myself to just one – a rich, vivid pink in Let’s Go Crazy. I can’t promise that I won’t go back for the others soon though – after all, what good is a playlist with only one song?

Well Heeled Express Pedicure System by Magnitone

Summer means sandals, and sandals usually mean getting your feet out. Which is great, except I’ve had tights and boots on for the last five months and I don’t think you’re ready for these tootsies. Heck, I’m not sure I am! However, there’s something super relaxing about giving yourself a home pedicure, and this express system from Magnitone is ideal for buffing and smoothing my feet during a Netflix marathon. So if you see me parading around in open-toed shoes, it’s all down to Magnitone!

I guess this edition of the Beauty Hit List really does cover everything from head to toe! But what else do I need to check out? Be sure to tell me what’s made your list too!

Beauty Hit List: February & March 2017

beauty hit list

It’s been two whole months since my last Beauty Hit List and, since then, I’ve discovered (and re-discovered) plenty of new goodies to obsess over. Today we’ve got some new makeup releases, one of my long-time favourite scents, the Easter collection we’ve all been waiting for and a new beauty store to hit up!

So what are we waiting for? As Shania Twain would say, let’s go girls (and boys!)…

beauty hit list

GEN NUDE by bareMinerals

How do you like to go nude? At the office? The gym? Buying groceries? bareMinerals have a nude for every occasion with their new collection of GEN NUDE lip colours and are proving that nude shades don’t need to mean boring! With four dreamy formulas and 40 shades (!) to choose from, there’s never been a better time to go nude.

The Matte Liquid Lip colours are creamy and moisturising, while the Radiant Lipsticks are serving up “your lips, but better” coverage. 10 new Buttercream lipglosses are non-sticky and plumping and the Under Over lip liners can be worn on their own or to accentuate the perfect pout. My favourites from the collection have to be the Radiant Lipsticks, which feel super hydrating and add a slight shine (I’m wearing the shade XOX in this photo, if you want to see it on!).

Whether you’re into pink, peach, beige or mauve, bareMinerals have you covered. Nudes for days!

Sugar Crush by Soap & Glory

Hands up if you got some Soap & Glory at Christmas time? Oh, who am I kidding? I love me some Soap and Glory all year round! My all-time favourite scent by Soap & Glory is Sugar Crush, a fresh kick of sherbet and citrus – so you can imagine my excitement when some of the brand’s classic products were recreated using my go-to fruity scent!

Over the last few months, I’ve been enjoying using Sugar Crush-scented Hand Food, Body Wash and Buttercream body butter. The dinky ones above came inside a Christmas gift set, which are perfect for stashing in your overnight bag for a burst of zing on the go!

LUSH Spring 2017 Releases

One of my favourite things about LUSH are their seasonal collections. As well as REALLY knowing how to run with a theme, the exclusive products are packed with good-enough-to-eat ingredients and the LUSH Spring releases are no exception.

Covering Easter, Mother’s Day and the general joys of Springtime, this year’s products are an explosion of colour, creativity and cruelty-free fun! The Golden Egg bath bomb is back (phew!) to turn your bath into a glittering pool of toffee-scented bliss and there are plenty of gorgeous gifts to spoil your mama, your bestie or yourself. I just love the Chocolate Egg soap, which smells like vanilla, white chocolate and lemon.

Superdrug Partick

If you’re Glasgow-based and want to pick up all your beauty essentials, you need to check out the shiny new Partick branch of Superdrug, which opened yesterday. Part of Crow Road retail park, this bright, modern unit is packed with everyone’s favourite brands plus Superdrug’s own-label products.

When I popped along to check it out, I was immediately drawn to the makeup section, which was packed with the store’s exclusive ranges like Makeup Revolution, MUA and Freedom. I also loved the Googly Eyes makeup bags, which are a super cute way to keep your handbag must-haves organised!

beauty hit list

It’s been an awesome couple of months for beauty – I think this time of year is always so great for new releases! I’m sure you guys have a few of your own favourites too, so be sure to tell me what I should be adding to my basket in the comments below or over on Twitter.

Love, glitter and googly eyes…

Beauty Hit List: December & January 2017

beauty hit list

Welcome to the first Beauty Hit List of the year! It feels like forever since I last shared a round-up of my favourite cosmetic crushes with you guys, so I’ve been really looking forward to this one.

Today I’m sharing some of the products that have been (literally!) saving my skin each day, seeing me through New Year celebrations in style and keeping my locks in check. So let’s dive in and take a peek, shall we?

beauty hit list

Ultra Facial Balm by Kiehl’s

It’s no secret by now that I’m a huge lover of Kiehl’s products, and I’ve gushed about their Ultra Facial Cream previously, due to its ability to keep my dry skin feeling super hydrated. Their Ultra Facial Balm takes this to a whole new level and it’s been my go-to for emergency levels of flakiness this winter!

Kiehl’s call this their ‘ultimate hydration blanket’, which is actually better than any description that I could come up with. It FEELS like a blanket in that it is soothing and comforting and makes the dry, rough skin I get around my nose and hairline feel soft and smooth instantly. It’s also non-greasy so, even though I slather my face in it some days, I don’t look like I have, hurrah!

Glitter pots by Sara Hill

Fact: glitter makes everything better. It just does, OK? If you agree, then you’re in good company and I highly recommend checking out Sara Hill’s range of glitter for grown-ups ASAP! These pots of loose glitter look perfect pressed on top of a cream eyeshadow, twinkling under the lower lashes or worn over lipstick for a dramatic (and fabulous!) look. To be honest, the beauty of these cruelty-free glitters is in how versatile they are, and they are so much fun to play with.

I wore some during New Year’s Eve in a geometric-inspired shape (go big or go home, eh?) using some of Sara Hill’s glitter fix to hold it in place. There are 12 dazzling shades to choose from (you can see Queen P and Royal Purple above) – next on my shopping list is the irridescent Crystal Tits glitter because I think it’ll be a must-have for my Vegas trip…

beauty hit list

i-illuminise Liquid Illuminiser by New CID Cosmetics

My name is Lynsay and I am officially a highlighter convert – and you can thank this i-illuminise by New CID Cosmetics for that. Inside this shiny silver tube is a liquid highlighter that has the most gorgeous, pearlescent glow. I’ve been wearing it buffed into my cheekbones, brow bones, my cupid’s bow, the tip of my nose (not all at once I might add!)…did I say ‘convert’ because I clearly meant to say ADDICT!

The dewy finish along with the brush on applicator makes it a easy to add a bit of shimmer to your every day make up look and build up as much of a highlight as you like. It’s been in my makeup bag every day since December.

Everlasting Liquid Lipstick by Kat Von D at Debenhams

The day that Kat Von D makeup stopped being a Sephora exclusive and became available at our very own Debenhams in the UK, I swear you could hear a Mexican wave-like squeal of delight if you listened hard enough! Of all the Kat Von D products I’ve tried over the years, the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks are, in my opinion, the best. Non-drying, extremely pigmented and in a range of lust-worthy shades, the liquid lipsticks last up to an impressive 24 hours – making them perfect for nights out.

Backstage Bambi was previously my weapon of choice, but I’ve recently tried out Bauhau5 (pictured above), and love its bold berry hue – the perfect pop of colour on a grey January day.

Damage Remedy Split End Repair by Aveda

Sometimes post-party season hair needs some TLC and luckily Aveda have the perfect range to help out! This Split End Repair treatment from Aveda’s Damage Remedy collection is just the thing to repair hair that has split and also to prevent new damage forming. I’ve been smoothing the cream into my hair after it’s been washed, dried and styled so it can do its thing while I’m out and about. Also, unlike some treatments I’ve tried, as well as making my hair look a lot healthier, it smells AMAZING. If you see me swishing my hair around any time soon, this is why!
