Ahhh. Does it get any better than a leopard print coat? Call me easy pleased, but I’ve had a spotted faux fur coat in my regular rotation for… how long? Ahem, let’s just say Richie Edwards and Nicky Wire have a LOT to answer for. So, I take great delight when I get to cosy up in my favourite print at the start of Autumn and even more when a new furry friend comes to join me!

I first spied this Gap leopard print coat during their AW17 press showcase last month and it was pretty much love at first sight. The oversized, vintage-influenced cut (those sleeves!) make it a little less structured than some of my other coats, but means it’s also super easy to throw on.

I should also mention that it feels just like a teddy bear – so soft and snuggly!

Over the weekend, I wore my new coat while we were out and about on some of the chilliest days we’ve had in ages. We grabbed lunch at Bab’s (Greek fries = LIFE, dontcha know), did a little shopping (a ouija board-themed cake stand for all of my Halloween hostessing needs…) and went to see Mother! at the cinema (have you seen it?).

Leopard print coats get a bit of a bad rep and tend to be a love-it-or-hate it character in the fashion world. They tread a very fine line between rock n’ roll and ‘fabulous old lady’ – plus a lot of people see them as tacky (IMAGINE!). That may be the case but I fully intend to keep cosy in leopard print until I’m a fabulous rock n’ roll old lady; living my best tacky life!

A Sugar Coated Spring

I don’t know about you, but I am SO READY to retire my winter layers and get into the swing of spring! My faithful faux fur coat is starting to feel like a villain in a bad movie…just when you think you’ve seen the last of him, he comes back out. To celebrate the four day weekend over Easter, I put together this Spring-inspired outfit from some of the 80 stores at Buchanan Galleries, and spent a fun afternoon with Gary walking around our old neighbourhood.

Outfit Details:
Sugar Coated tee | H&M
Gingham skirt | Mango
Silver camera bag | Accessorize
Hair flower | Claire’s
Puma sneakers | Kids Footlocker (yep, really!)
Fuchsia Fever lipstick | Benefit Cosmetics at Boots

All available at Buchanan Galleries

Hair by #BLOW | Nails by Swoon Nails

We visited the Botanic Gardens, where it feels like a spring day all year round! I’d visited #BLOW earlier that morning for a quick hair appointment, and they gave me the 1960s fantasy bouffant of my dreams. It just goes to show that you can get the Priscilla Presley-meets-Betty Rubble hair you’ve always wanted (you just need the right salon!).

My favourite part of this outfit has to be the mint Sugar Coated tee from H&M. I’ve been falling in love with slogan tees all over again lately, and that pastel green shade has ‘Spring’ written all over it!

Also, can we just take five and talk about these creeper-style Puma sneakers? Yes, they are technically definitely from a children’s shoe store, but hey – if the shoe fits (boom boom!), who am I to complain? I walked around in them all day, from the Botanic Gardens, to lunch at West on the Corner, and back into the city centre again. Cute AND comfy!

I hope you guys have been starting to enjoy the sunnier days and got a chance to take it easy over Easter. Thank you for your patience and support with my blog rebrand also – I really appreciate it and can’t wait to reveal more!

Tell me, have you started wearing your favourite Spring pieces yet? And which cartoon character’s hair do YOU most admire?

Here’s to a sugar coated spring…

Friday Hi-Fives: Kitten Tales & Colour Changing Nails

colour changing

Hello and happy weekend everyone! I’m writing this week’s hi-fives while our kitten rolls around on the floor at my feet, grabbing at his tail (which he hasn’t quite understood is actually attached to him yet!). I can’t believe it’s been two months since we brought him home – he’s a constant source of hilarity and has made himself right at home.

Other than kitten parenthood keeping me busy, I’ve enjoyed some visits to a few of my local beauty heroes – starting with Swoon Nails. Sure, the manicure in the photo above may LOOK a little simple compared to my usual wild nail art, but it’s actually colour changing Calgel polish! It reminds me of the mood rings that I used to be obsessed with when I was about 11. Nostalgia aside, this is exclusive to Swoon Nails at the moment so hop to it if you fancy some colour changing nails yourself!

Next up, I headed to BLOW in desperate need of a haircut. Luckily my stylist Rachel had just returned from her exotic travels and had me feeling like myself again in no time. I also popped over to Pixie on Dumbarton Road to visit eyebrow queen Dale who whipped my unruly brows back into shape. Finally, I enjoyed an unbelieveable Comforter treatment at the LUSH Spa in Edinburgh, which started with a divine chocolate body scrub and ended with a candy floss mocktail! Truly scrumptious.

It’s safe to say I’ve had a spring in my step lately after all that pampering!

If you haven’t heard, I’ve launched an exciting giveaway with Paulin Watches this week. Up for grabs is your choice of watch from their gorgeous collection (usually worth up to £250), so be sure to check out this post for more details on how to get involved.

I’m excited to get this weekend started! Let’s get hi-fiving and keep those good vibes coming.

This week, I’m hi-fiving because…

…my girl Vicky has just launched her first collection of retro-inspired scarves! Talk about a proud pal moment! She’s also offering 25% off to celebrate her launch – hop over to her Instagram to find out more!

…there’s a rather awesome Moxie pop-up fashion event happening this Sunday with vintage and pre-loved designer pieces galore. It all kicks off at noon in Blythswood Square hotel – see you there?

…and next Thursday, Glad Rags are hosting the first exhibition from Operation BoPo – a celebration of empowerment, self-love and body positivity. As well as a photography display you can expect punch, cake and goodie bags

…I just seen the Disney x Lazy Oaf collection and DAMN, it’s good. Bye bye, bank balance!

…last Sunday evening was spent dancing under a shower of confetti with my favourite people by my side. That’s pretty much my idea of pure happiness

I hope you have an awesome weekend! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a hyper kitten to look after…

With love,

Signature
