How D’ya Like Your Eggs in the Morning?

Eggs 2

When I think about the perfect brunch (and it happens a LOT more often than I’d care to admit…) I picture delicious poached eggs, gingham tablecloths, endless cups of coffee and awesome conversations. How about you?

On Saturday I headed through to Edinburgh for the day to spend some time with the Girl Gang, and check out the newest pop-up project from Scotland Re-Designed (but much more about THAT on Wednesday!). We couldn’t think of a better way to start our egg-citing adventures than having brunch at The City Cafe, and I had the perfect outfit for the occasion…

As far as outfit themes go, ‘brunch’ has to be a new one (for me, anyway!) so I started off with a checked smock dress from East London fashion darlings, The White Pepper. I love the easy feel of this dress - it can be worn on its own or layered up for a cosier look and the fabric is so soft. I paired it with a blue cardigan from Fred Perry and grey knee-high socks.

Can we talk about this egg-cellent necklace for a moment? I love the oversized egg motif on this Chelsea Doll piece, and I reckon it’s a must for brunching babes everywhere!

I’m still head-over-heels with my Joules satchel (swoon!) and can’t get enough of the pop of hubba-bubba pink against the blue tones of my dress. It’s also the perfect bag for a day in the capital and toting around all my rubbish essentials.

Any outfit is best topped with some Crown and Glory - and I’ll be wearing this gold glitter Sophie headpiece all the way into party season! My boots are from Faith at Debenhams and may just be the most comfortable boots ever.

And as for brunch? Well, we had a fantastic time in one of The City Cafe’s retro-style booths eating eggs (of course!) and chatting. I ordered Eggs Florentine (perfection!) and a “Cup Of Joe” - anywhere that has their coffee as Cup Of Joe on their menu is pretty amazing in my book! I loved our brunch and will certainly be back to try one of their famous milkshakes sometime!

Tell me about your favourite brunchtime diners! If you could theme an outfit after any meal, what would you choose? And how d’ya like your eggs in the morning?

Here’s to lazy, girly brunches…
