What’s Goin’ On: The Festive Events Round-Up

With only a few weeks until Christmas, excitement is building and everyone is getting in the mood to spread a little holiday cheer! Is it any surprise then, that we’re truly spoiled for choice when it comes to fun and exciting events in the run-up to Christmas? But where to even begin? Well, I’ve hand-picked some of the best goings-on in fashion, shopping, food, film and more to bring you my festive events round-up. So hop on my sleigh and let’s get to it…

Shopping

Pop-ups, pop-ups and more pop-ups! If there’s one thing we love at this time of year, it’s a unique and exclusive shopping experience! In addition to Edinburgh’s fabulous Limited Edition shop, Glasgow has quite the collection of pop-ups over the coming weeks that I can’t wait to hit up. Tomorrow will see the awesome Cambridge Satchel Company set up shop in Royal Exchange Square for the festive season - be still my heart! Local ladies Hey Sailor will also be popping up at Tempo Tea this Saturday and Monday selling their kitsch fashion and homeware goodies. Wear Eponymous have set up their temporary store at The Fort, very appropriately named The Wardrobe - expect a special collection of designers and makers at the store, running until 31st January.

Film

At this time of year, there are always lots of special Christmas screenings of everyone’s favourite films, but this December there is one stand-out series of events that surely top them all! Yep, I’m talking about Watch and Wolf, a new multi-sensory cinema experience from the guys at Jelly & Gin. Multi-what? So, dig this: on arrival at the screening, each guest is given a tray of bite-sized goodies to nibble on. But not so fast! The food and drinks have been crafted to be enjoyed in tandem with the movie. So for example, when Buddy the Elf eats candy, the usher will reveal that it is time for YOU to eat candy. Sounds pretty good to me! Like Smell-O-Vision, but you know, yummier! I’ll be heading along to the screening of The Wizard of Oz and can’t WAIT to see what Jelly & Gin have planned. See you there?

Fashion & Beauty

Thrift-store darlings Glad Rags Glasgow will be hosting a night of Christmas sparkle on Thursday 18th December. If you’ve been reading here a while, you’ll remember me mentioning Glad Rags Glasgow a few times - as well as being a lovely bunch with kind hearts, this lot also know how to throw quite the party! On the 18th you can expect tasty treats, vintage and second-hand fashion, a raffle, live music and more! At the other side of the Clyde, our girls at #BLOW are planning a massive pamper day this Sunday with special guests Swoon & DIY Nails. Let the ladies work their magic on your tresses with their new XXXPress Blow menu, and you can even get a fly manicure while you’re there. You’ll leave feeling like a new woman, I guarantee it!

Food

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of breakfast food, so when I heard that Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow had some special breakfasts planned for December I was all ears. A Scottish breakfast buffet with an American twist of pancakes and waffles sounds pretty tasty to me! Oh, and Santa is going to be there (I KNOW HIM!), I mean is there anything HRC Glasgow can’t do? These events - on 20th and 21st December - sound pretty perfect if you have a little one to entertain (who wants to queue for ages for Santa’s Grotto???) or like me, just LOVE Christmas and breakfast food. One thing’s for sure: stretchy clothes are essential for this one..

Will you be joining in the festive fun this year?

Walking in a Winter Wonderland,

Miss West End Girl x
