Limited Edition - A Festive Pop-Up by Scotland Re:Designed

Limited Edition 8As someone who loves to shop local and discover emerging indie businesses, pop-up stores are particular favourites of mine. Where else can you pick up one-off pieces, chat with the designers & makers themselves AND support homegrown talent? Exactly.

We’ve seen a few pop-up stores appear over the last few months, but recently the awesome people at Scotland Re:Designed have pushed things towards the bigger and better by creating Limited Edition - a pop-up department store featuring no less than TWENTY-ONE local designers and companies! Exciting? You better believe it…

At the weekend I rounded up my blogger babes Vicky, Helen and Kimberley and we plotted a day out in Edinburgh that included heading for Ocean Terminal to visit Limited Edition (with a brunch date squeezed in, of course!). A short trip on the bus later, and we had arrived.

Limited Edition 4

Ocean Terminal have worked with Scotland Re:Designed to create a unique space that is buzzing with excitement, yet pleasant enough to let you have a good, uninterrupted browse! I was amazed at the size of the unit, at 4000 square feet allowing for all 21 designers to have their pieces showcased equally, and couldn’t wait to have a look at the range of womenswear, menswear, accessories, childrenswear, homeware and gifts.

Limited Edition 6

First things first (*slams down phone*)! As soon as we piled through the door, there was something multicoloured and covered in faux fur beckoning us…of course, it could only be Obscure Couture’s concession! After living out all of our Barbie-punk-meets-Rainbow-Brite fantasies for a few moments (as you do…), nothing could have prepared me for THIS luxurious Blaspheme coat from the brand’s AW13 collection! I slipped it on an instantly felt like a badass. Cue much posing and purring!

Limited Edition 1

Next, I enjoyed checking out some beautiful illustrated scarves by Helen Ruth, sweet-scented soya candles by Skye Candles, and contemporary printed pieces from Abetwix. The vibrant knitwear by Eribe made me want to snuggle up to a log fire, and we even got chatting to designer Victoria Rushworth (We Are Rushworth), who talked us through her collection. Inspired by adventure and imagination through young eyes, We Are Rushworth have an eye-catching range of knits and designer t-shirts which are all designed and brought to life in Scotland.

Limited Edition 5

Kerr Watson’s display of simple, chic accessories caught my eye, and after that I found myself lovingly gazing at the Kirsteen Stewart collection. Gorgeous!

Limited Edition 2

With the house move, interiors are now becoming a little bit of an obsession, so I made a beeline for Iona Crawford’s designs. Featuring puffins, stags and geometric patterns (and DRESSES!), this collection was surely one of my favourites.

These stunning handcrafted bags by Rhodesian of Edinburgh came in just about every colour possible - making one for each outfit I reckon (hey, a gal can dream…).

Limited Edition 3

With so many unique concessions under one roof, Limited Edition is the perfect place to do a bit of Christmas shopping while supporting local talent. The other amazing thing about this project is how interactive it is, with workshops and shopping guides hosted by the designers themselves planned over the coming weeks!

The pop-up will run until 31st January and is worth a visit if you’re Edinburgh based, or just visiting for the day. You can keep up-to-date with the plans from Scotland Re:Designed, and find a full list of all 21 designers involved, here!

Have you visited Limited Edition? What does your dream coat look like?

With shopping fever,

Miss West End Girl x
