Hello friends - I hope you all had an awesome Christmas! I’ve spent the last few days relaxing after hosting our first Christmas Day at home, which was a lot of fun (and the quickest 10 hours of my LIFE!).
In a few days, it’ll be Hogmany and time for even more celebrations! I’m looking forward to getting all dressed up and welcoming 2016 with Gary and our closest friends.
Toasting the New Year is always best done with something delicious to drink, don’t you think? As some of you might know, I’m not a huge drinker - but that doesn’t mean I want to be the gal at the party with the lukewarm can of cola either! I am a huge fan of alcohol-free cocktails, and think that colourful and well-garnished drinks can help take any party from meh to YEAH!
If you’re not drinking this New Year, or if you perhaps have guests that aren’t, I thought I would share a few easy-peasy recipes to get us started. Here are some of my favourite fruity mocktails for New Year’s Eve…
Awesome Apple Mojito
To make this faux-hito, I started with a cocktail shaker and added 2 parts Funkin Cocktails Mojito mixer and 1 part fresh apple juice. I also threw in some fresh mint and a squeeze of lime juice for extra zing!
I filled my glass with ice, gave the shaker my best Tom Cruise-in-Cocktail moves (ahem!) and poured the mixture in, garnishing with an extra lime wedge. The result was uber-refeshing, and it was so easy to make that I might try varying it with different fruit juices next time.
Blue n’ Blackberry Beret
Of COURSE I’m going to try to name one of my drinks after a Prince hit, what do you take me for?! Anyway, this is a recipe I came up with after spying our Nutribullet in the kitchen, but any kind of blender will do!
I started with some of Funkin Cocktails Hollywood mixer, which is a berry concoction including acai, blueberries and raspberries. I added a handful of fresh blueberries and blackberries and a few cubes of ice and blended until smooth. If you have some leftover berries use ’em to dress up your glass!
Club Tropicana
It might be December, and Baby, it IS cold outside, but sometimes all you want is some totally tropical flavour to get the party started. After filling a tall glass with cubed ice, I added pineapple juice to one third of the glass, and then filled it with Funkin Cocktails Brazilian mixer until the glass was two-thirds full. I topped up the remainder of the glass with sparkling water.
The blend of mango, passionfruit and orange juices in the mixer paired with tangy pineapple juice makes this mocktail perfect for year-round fiestas. All that’s missing is the seeeeeaaa…
Whatever you get up to this Hogmany, I hope you have a smashing (and safe!) confetti-filled time. If you try any of my fruity mocktails for New Year’s Eve, be sure to let me know!
Have you ever made mocktails at home? Do you name things after your favourite 80s songs too?
With love, party poppers and paper straws,
A big thank you to Funkin Cocktails making the mocktail-shaking process even easier!

These all look delicious! Loving the pom pom cocktail sticks too. Hx
Thanks Helen! Will need to whip some up for your next visit 🙂 xx
