In the grand scheme of things, I am, admittedly a latecomer to the afternoon tea scene. I think I first discovered its genius about two years ago, and it went something like; WAIT, I can dress up AND eat cakes for lunch? Why has it taken me so long to realise this?! Needless to say I’ve been making it my mission to make up for lost time!
Going for afternoon tea is such a joy (for obvious reasons stated above) and in Glasgow, we are lucky enough to have an explosion of venues up and down the city offering their own afternoon tea experience. We are truly spoiled for choice (if you ask me, there are almost as many places in Glasgow offering an afternoon tea as there are serving up a gourmet burger!). With so many decadent and unique takes on this tasty treat, let’s look at some of the finest Glasgow has to offer…
Afternoon Tea at The Corinthian Club
If you want to get dolled up to the nines and eat your cake in style, there are very few surroundings as swish as at The Corinthian Club. I have enjoyed afternoon tea here while taking in the stylish decor and wearing some of my finest frocks. My favourite part about their afternoon tea is the cinnamon scones - heavenly!
Taking Tea at Cup
With tea rooms in the City Centre and the West End, Cup offers a relaxed and friendly afternoon tea with a dash of excellent customer service. Listen up, tea fans - Cup offers a choice of FORTY teas! Who knew there were even 40 kinds of tea? Not this gal. Cup also serve a gluten-free afternoon tea which is a blessing to many babes that I know! If you’re too full to finish your goodies, Cup will also pack it up for you to enjoy later - what a nice bunch they are!
Ti Lounge at Hilton Glasgow
Taking its title from the Scottish Gaelic Word for tea, Hilton Glasgow’s Ti Lounge serves up traditional and unique afternoon teas with something to suit most tastes and budgets. I adore the thought and personality that has been clearly put into the menus at Ti. My pick? The Mad Hatters Tea party, complete with miniature bottles of ‘drink me’ potion, filled with bright blue bubble gum soda! Grab your friends, wear your cutest vintage hats and make a day of it.
Afternoon Tea at The Salon, Blythswood Square Hotel
A visit to Blythswood Square Hotel is always sublime - and I’ve enjoyed afternoon tea at Blythswood on a few occasions now (most recently their Hansel and Gretel themed tea). If you want to feel well-looked after, look no further. This is thanks to the attentive and pleasant staff, along with some of the most delicious, generously stacked cake stands (yep, you will have one all to yourself!) I’ve ever had.
There are many, many more places that you could visit - and we haven’t even touched on the ‘cocktails in teacups’ afternoon teas today! - but these are a few of my top picks and a good place to start if you are visiting Glasgow, or just enjoy getting all gussied up and enjoying tea and cake like a lady!

Ooo if I ever make it up to Glasgow I’m definite calling you up for an afternoon tea! If you’re down this way again check out Sketch, it’s just off Regent St in London and the menu is yummy and very creative as well as awesome decor!

My favourite afternoon tea in Glasgow ( and I love afternoon tea, even had it for our wedding!) is at the Tea Rooms at the Butterfly and Pig. Really super value; available pretty much any time of day; decor just the right side of twee; service just the right side of mad; and most importantly, really yummy!
