‘Tis the season to be…sparkly! It’s true that there’s very few things that I love as much as a bit of glitter, and at Christmastime I can let my magpie flag fly even more. Even though I will quite happily spend a lot of time wearing pyjamas at this time of year, there are loads of opportunities to dress up too! From family parties to New Year celebrations, the next few weeks have plenty of occasions where a little shimmer is the perfect accessory.
With that in mind, I wanted to share some of my favourite ways to sparkle this season…

The Party Dress
Ever see a dress and have one of THOSE gotta-have-it, heart fluttering moments? Well, that’s exactly how I felt when I laid eyes on the glitter dresses from Vintage Style Me’s AW14 lookbook. I knew that these overly-spangly, super kitsch numbers were perfect for the festive season! I picked out the turquoise one and when I unwrapped it, it didn’t disappoint - in fact I’d score it 11/10 on the Sparkle Scale! When I slipped into it I felt like a sassy piece of tinsel, and I can see myself wearing it all year round.

Bling Up Your Brows (or eyes, or cheeks…)
Sticking gems to my face for an on point party look hadn’t really occurred to me since I was about 8 - anyone else remember Stick On Stones?! But when I went to the launch of Benefit’s new Bling Brow kit a few months ago, I couldn’t get enough. With tiny self-adhesive Swarovski crystals that are easy to apply (no fiddling around with glue here!), you can have loads of fun experimenting with dramatic styles (like covering your entire eyebrows with crystals) and subtle looks (one or two on the browbone is a popular choice!). This Christmas, I’ll be placing them under my eyes and on my cheekbones for a Jem & The Holograms-inspired look. Twinkle, twinkle!
A Shining Statement Necklace
I’m a huge fan of eye-catching necklaces - they can liven up the most simple of outfits. This shiny piece is part of Sugar and Vice’s new Abstract collection - I love the rich, jewel tones and the mirrored acrylic. The shape reminds me of a shimmering mermaid’s tail and I think it goes perfectly with my teal frock!

Glitter From Head to Toe
I’m rarely seen without something from Crown and Glory perched on my head, and this Starlight Trio headband is my very favourite for seasonal sparkle. I’m pairing it with these Joyful heels from Topshop. Their cute T-bar shape and clunky heel makes them the perfect dancing shoes…

Fly Festive Fingers
A glittery manicure is definitely part of my Christmas routine, and I look no further than Swoon Nails to sort me out with something special to make my nails pop. Lia not only actively encourages my love of sparkles, but always comes up with new and exciting designs. This year we went for a sort of Cadbury’s chocolate-meets-The Jetsons theme. It features purple, stars and a TON of glitter - what more could I want?

I hope you have a magical Christmas and New Year, filled with laughter, confetti and good times. What’s your favourite way to sparkle this season?
Starry-eyed,
Miss West End Girl x
