As excited as I am for Christmas, I must admit that unpacking holiday clothes in the new flat and listening to the rain and hail battering off of the windows is making me long for Florida just a little bit! If you’ve been reading here a while, you might remember that we’ve been on holiday to the sunshine state every year for the last 6 years and we just can’t get enough of the laid-back atmosphere, amazing food, beautiful weather and of course, Walt Disney World!
So when I was invited to take part in the Magical Orlando tag and presented with a list of questions, I was only too happy to start thinking about all of the fun things to do while visiting my favourite place. Since I’ve not really seen any of the Harry Potter movies or read the books (sorry Potter fans!), I’ve amended two of the questions so that I can still talk about something fun from my Florida adventures…
1. Which Hogwarts House would you be sorted into? CHANGED TO Where is your favourite place to eat in Orlando?
This is a really hard question to answer because Orlando is full of delicious places to enjoy a meal! I am a big fan of themed restaurants and fortunately get to indulge in that quite a bit in Florida. I would probably say that my all-time favourite is House of Blues - their style of cooking, variety of food and brand ethos keeps us coming back for more every year. Oh, and the fact that it’s in Downtown Disney doesn’t hurt either!
2.Name a Disney character you’d like to have dinner with?
Baloo the bear from The Jungle Book. Not only was he voiced by one of my favourite Disney actors, Phil Harris, but he also reminds me of my dad - and dinners with my dad are ALWAYS awesome. We’d have a huge meal in the jungle and then take an even bigger nap afterwards. Perfect.
3. Which Marvel Superhero power would you choose?
I’d want to try Sue Storm from Fantastic Four’s invisibility power. Who wouldn’t want to experiment with invisibility, even just for a day?
4. If you could bring back one dinosaur breed from Jurassic Park, which would it be?
All the ones I like are kinda deadly, but I guess that wouldn’t be very responsible would it?! Since I don’t want to cause utter chaos, I’ll go with Triceratops!
5. Where would you go on a school trip to Hogsmeade? CHANGED TO Where is your favourite place to shop in Orlando?
The shopping in Florida is INSANE! Two of my favourite designers, Kate Spade and Betsey Johnson are widely available and on top of that there are outlets for just about everything you can think of. Over the years I’ve picked up gorgeous handbags, one-off dresses, make-up favourites and more. I’d say that the two outlets run by Premium Outlets plus the Mall at Millenia are my top shopping destinations.
6. Name a scene in a Disney, Marvel or Harry Potter movie that you wish you wish you could experience.
Too easy, it has to be the jazz cats party in Disney’s The Aristocats. Partying in old-time Paris with Thomas O’ Malley and his pals always looked like a lot of fun!
7. Name one item from any Harry Potter, Disney or Marvel movie that you would want for Christmas.
Hmm! That’s another tough one! Maybe Iron Man’s suit? Sure would make flying to Florida next year a lot easier…
8. Name one unforgettable experience you’ve had at the Orlando Parks.
I do have a tendency to go on (and on!) about Walt Disney World, but that’s because it’s my favourite place on the planet. When I think about the simple things, like being on the ferry and seeing Cinderella’s castle in the distance or huddled up under the fireworks at Magic Kingdom, those are the unforgettable experiences!
I’ve enjoyed geeking out over my most-loved holiday destination today and sharing some of my favourite things about Magical Orlando and the movies that the parks are based on. I also invite any fellow bloggers that share the Florida love to join in and tell me what your answers are! Until it’s time to start planning our next trip, I’ll guess I’ll be keeping warm in my Mickey Mouse beanie…
With love, sunshine and holiday dreams,
Miss West End Girl
