New Year, Everyday Awesome

Happy new year, beautiful ones!

I’m writing today’s post in my pyjamas, having spent last night out at The Glad Cafe welcoming the new year with Gary and our best friends and staying out a little past my bedtime. We laughed, we danced and we made plans for the coming months. We spent the first moments of 2016 singing / yelling along to Sexual Healing with a bunch of strangers (yes, really!), and it was, to me, the BEST way to start the year!

The new year, to a lot of people, is a time of making promises and setting intentions for the year ahead. A new calendar can often feel like a clean slate or a blank notebook, ready for the next story.

But if the last year has taught me anything, it’s that we don’t need to wait for a special date to do any of these things. We can be brave, travel more, take care of ourselves and others, stand up for ourselves and do a whole lot more whenever we want. We can make the everyday awesome just by making the decision to do it - it’s that simple!

Today I am jumping into the new year with a huge smile and a few small goals that I want to achieve, secure in the knowledge that I can switch things up whenever I choose (and certainly don’t need to wait until January 1st to make changes).

Here’s to a 2016 that’s all about putting happiness first, taking risks, being kind and taking charge of how and when we do things - after all, when people say This is YOUR Year, what else would they mean?

It may be a new year, but I am SO ready to make every day count. Will you join me?
