Theme park food often gets a bum reputation when you think about it. In fact, I wouldn’t blame you if you were already starting to picture greasy, overpriced fare at the mere mention of it (stale corn dog, anyone?). But trust me, Walt Disney World is different. For me, the wide range of high-quality food offerings across the resort and parks is part of the appeal that keeps me coming back for more.
This year’s visit was no exception, and I arrived armed with a list of treats, desserts and meals that I couldn’t wait to try. It’s hard to summarise ALL of my favourites because Disney keep adding fresh items each time I travel. There’s always something new!
But, if you’re heading to the happiest place on earth soon, and love sweet treats, these are five Walt Disney World snacks you must check out…

What: Mickey Red Velvet Whoopie Pie
Where: Sunshine Seasons, Epcot Park
Why: The dessert counter at Sunshine Seasons restaurant is filled with amazing pastries and cakes but this whoopie pie is the star of the show! It’s a super soft and moist red velvet cake with a hefty dollop of cream cheese icing and chocolate chips in the middle. The whole thing is topped off with a chocolate Mickey shape. My only regret? That I only got to eat it once!

What: The Master’s Cupcake
Where: Be Our Guest, Magic Kingdom Park
Why: Remember in Beauty and the Beast when Lumiere sang “try the grey stuff, it’s delicious”? Well, now’s your chance to actually DO that! And you know what? Those dishes were on to something. This is a chocolate sponge cupcake with the grey stuff (a cookies and cream panna cotta whip) swirled on top, served in the restaurant in Beast’s castle - it doesn’t get much more magical than that.

What: Colossal Mickey Cinnamon Roll
Where: Creature Comforts, Animal Kingdom Park
Why: Is it a breakfast? Is it a dessert? If you ask me, it’s both! This used to be called the Colossal Cinnamon Roll but now I believe the name has been tweaked to the Mickey Cinnamon Roll. Guys, it’s a warm, sticky cinnamon bun that’s as big as your face - need I say more? When it comes to Walt Disney World snacks, sometimes you gotta go big or go home!

What: Peanut Butter Pie
Where: Contempo Cafe, Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Why: Peanut butter lovers, this one’s for you! Just a short monorail ride from Magic Kingdom park, you’ll find Contempo Cafe inside Disney’s Contemporary Resort. This snack is a vanilla pie crust with a big ol’ scoop of peanut butter cream cheese filling (!!) in the middle, a hidden vanilla cream layer and a drizzle of chocolate ganache. It’s salty, sweet and all kinds of GLORIOUS!

What: Rose Gold Minnie Ears Cupcake
Where: Sunshine Seasons, Epcot Park
Why: Back over at Sunshine Seasons, this is another Disney sweet that is well worth sampling. The cake-to-icing ratio on this bad boy is insane - probably two-thirds icing and one third cake - so make sure you grab a spoon! The cake itself is a chocolate and vanilla marble sponge and the pretty icing decoration is classic vanilla buttercream with a fondant set of rose gold mouse ears on top.
These are just a few of the super sweet Walt Disney World snacks that I tried this year (be sure to hop over to my Instagram if you want to check out more!) so, if you’re planning a Disney trip soon, be sure to add some of these treats to your itinerary!
