Well, hello!* It’s been a minute since my last post, huh? How ARE you? I hope you’ve been doing good and enjoying August. Things have been a tad hectic around here (IRL) so I had to take a wee break from my usual routine of posting.
I thought I’d check myself back in with an old-school gab about everything. And nothing! If you’ve been reading this ol’ meemaw blog long enough you’ll probably remember that these kind of posts used to be the norm back in the day…
So, what’s new? It was my birthday this month (toot toot!) and I spent it with my favourite humans, having doughnuts for breakfast before piling into Elaine’s car for a fun day trip - it was the best!
I’ve also found myself down at Las Barras on the reg’! Danzig’s 30th Anniversary Show was a big highlight (and a very fun throwback to my teen goth years!), and I finally went to Van Winkle - an East End bar with one of the nicest beer gardens I’ve visited in AGES. Plus, it’s super dog-friendly, so if you’re out with your pooch and feeling parched, it’s worth popping in.
During spells of some much-needed downtime, I’ve also managed to complete all 9 series of Seinfeld… so, the big question is, what the heck do I watch next? Recommendations on a postcard / tweet please!
Food-wise, I’ve been all about that brunch life - but what else is new, right? Cafe Strange Brew never fails to dazzle me (and almost every other person in Glasgow!) with their menu and specials, and their mango & passionfruit granola bowl is a current favourite of mine. A very recent (as in, just two days ago!) discovery has also been the crispy eggs over at Phillies of Shawlands. YOU GUYS, it’s a soft boiled egg that’s been deep-fried for a mere flash. Crispy on the outside, soft and gooey in the middle. Ugh, so good.
Over on the podcast, we’ve been binge-watching shows (the good, the bad and the weird!) and talking all about them. Our Dawson’s Creek episode was a lot of fun to record and let me revisit that old Joshua Jackson crush that I’d almost forgotten about. Almost!
I think that’s us all caught up, but I really want to know what you’ve been up to! How has your month been?
